The 4th Street food truck stop is located in the heart of one of the roughest neighborhoods in Visalia. Gang violence, drugs and poverty is rampant and threatens families daily. However, when you have nothing and you are able to get an apartment of your own for you and your children 4th street looks like hope. Our newest 4th street family moved into their own apartment after leaving the mission yesterday. A single mom and 5 kids are now living in the neighborhood that the Nehemiah Project International serves. When the mom was ready to make the move from the mission to her own place, she had NOTHING...no furniture, kitchen appliances, beds, bedding, dishes, toys for the kids and little clothes. The Nehemiah team "happened" to cross paths with this family at our food truck stop last saturday and found them in need...so what else was there to do but meet the need. With the help of Living Proof Community Church, individuals and the Nehemiah Project International the family now has an apartment full of furniture, clothes, refridgerator, microwave, toys and even two T.V.'s (because the blessings run in abundance!!)When we arrived, the mom cried and cried. She couldn't believe that we would help her without even knowing her. The kids' said, "You're the nicest people we know!" Putting into action what is asked of us from our Father shows His love, compassion and character in a real way that goes beyond words. Although we took care of most of their needs, therre are a few things that are still needed: kids' clothes (girls: 8/10 & 2T boys: 6/5/4), curtains for the apartment to keep out the heat (there's no air conditioning) & ensure privacy, FLOOR FANS (again, no air conditioning)& women's clothing size 8/10. We are also planning to sponsor the kids' back to school needs. If you have any of these items or would like to donate money to buy them please use the "Contact Us" form on this website. (All donations for this family will go DIRECTLY to helping this family specifically & are tax dedcuctible.)
